In this one-week club, students will collaborate to write a fun creative piece about a fractured fairy tale!

This is a one-week class that meets two times. During this week, we will work together to plan, organize, write, and edit a procedural how-to piece. We will use songs/movement, visual anchor charts, and teacher modeling/directing to add visual, auditory, and kinesthetic modalities to the learning process.

Week 1Lesson 1Introduction and Graphic OrganizerWe will learn about using the five senses in our writing, we will brainstorm ideas to write about, we will complete our graphic organizers, and we will begin with a strong topic sentence.Lesson 2Writing Body and RevisionWe will explore adjectives in our writing; we will begin writing out our story; we will end our story with a closing sentence; we will revise and edit, focusing on capital letters, punctuation, and finger spaces; we will add detailed illustrations; and we will practice listening and speaking skills as we share our writing with our friends.
