Class Experience

Deutsch ist Klasse. Conjugate German words.

Suited for advanced beginners who are able to read English or German.

In the first lesson of "Deutsch ist Klasse. Conjugate German words", students will be introduced to the conjugation of regular German verbs ("weak" verbs).
We will start out by introducing ourselves, which is followed by some basic conversation to ascertain the learner's knowledge and abilities.
The students will then be introduced to the conjugation of common German regular verbs (e.g. walk, learn, etc.). They will learn the meaning of the words they are conjugating as well as the conjugation of the words.
We will then practice what we have learned, which will deepen the student’s knowledge and understanding of German conjugation.
Being able to conjugate common German words means that your child will be able to create simple sentences independently and then move on to more complex structures after having mastered conjugations.
This is a highly interactive class and active participation is encouraged.

I am passionate about learning and teaching languages and I love teaching children.
I am a German R.N., E.M.T. and I also hold a Master's degree in linguistics (Translation, English, German, Spanish; I also took 4 semesters of French).
I am looking forward to teaching your child.

All the best, Sibylle.

    Profile
    Teacher expertise and credentials
Master's Degree in Foreign Language from Heidelberg University (Institute of Translation and Interpreting) in Heidelberg, Germany
My name is Sibylle Gray; I have four children and a passion for languages, reading, knitting, crocheting, painting, origami, learning about history and other cultures, hiking, fishing and baking bread and cakes.
I hold a Master's Degree in Linguistics (English, German, Spanish).
I have taught in-class German at private co-ops to children ages five through sixteen and I have been an online ESL (English as a second language) teacher for over 5years. I also have the 120-hour TEFL/TESOL certification.
Before going to university, I studied nursing and worked at a hospital as an R.N. I also worked on an ambulance for several years in addition to being a volunteer E.M.T. at the German Red Cross and a youth leader at the German Red Cross. I have a passion for the medical field and I enjoy being around other people.
I grew up bilingually and I have always enjoyed languages, history and other cultures. I was able to experience and compare the American and German culture first-hand, from which I have certainly benefited greatly.
Understanding and valuing other cultures are very important, especially in today's age and time. We all need to know more about each other so as to grow together and make the world a better place.
I am a passionate knitter and I am proud to say that my three older children all know how to knit and crochet. I love knitting hats, shawls, scarves, blankets, and many other things. I also love crocheting lace (using thread) and tatting.
I teach English (TEFL, TESOL) to international students and a few years year ago, one of my students introduced me to "origami". My children and I fell in love with origami and every evening, we get together to do origami.
I also enjoy painting with water colors and acrylics and I love drawing. My favorite motifs are unicorns as well as kawaii, chibis and manga images.
When I am on the road, at a doctor's office, at the park and even when we are fishing, you will find me either reading a book or knitting a hat or shawl (which might be the reason I haven't caught anything in a while :).
I would love to get to know your child and introduce him or her to the wonderful world of learning and having fun.
    Have a wonderful day,
    Miss Sibylle.
