Do you like mysteries? Do you like dogs? Do you like dog collars with giant diamonds that disappear without a trace during a dog's birthday party? Then this class is for you! In this class, students will take on the role of a detective. They will use their sleuthing skills which will include reading comprehension, making inferences, critical thinking, and finding connections. Our class will work as a team to consider all the clues and come up with theories about what happened. Participation in the review of the case files and discussion of the crime is essential to solving this mystery. Each detective's input could be the key to cracking the case. The case files will be shown via a shared screen Google Slide presentation. The students will determine which files we should open and whether we need to go back and view a clue or suspect file again. After reading through all of the files, our team of detectives will have to reveal the culprit and find the collar. This class does not require any previous knowledge except a strong desire to solve mysteries.
Learning Goals
Students will use reading analysis skills to find meaning and draw conclusions. They will also practice speaking and listening skills through discussion.
