Description
Class Experience
We will make: *France: Mousse the first week * Italy: Tiramisu the second week * South Africa: cookies for tea time the third week * Japan: Mochi the fourth week As we make these delicious delicacies and learn the culture and traditions of these countries. In France, we will make a simple mousse with an edible chocolate cup. This recipe will not involve a stove, but simply a refrigerator and electric mixer, and microwave oven. Students will make delicious desserts. This should help them realize that cooking is fun and attainable.
My training was at Iowa State University. I started my career in the kitchens of a utility company. My job was to promote electric households by demonstrating electric appliances and creating recipes that utilized them. I have taught culinary for all age groups in Public Schools and private organizations.
The students will need to make sure groceries are purchased and "mise en place" their ingredients before each class starts.
The teacher will look at the desserts each class and ask the learner how they turned out. The families can also judge the products.
50 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 0 - 1 hours per week outside of class.
We will be using an electric beater, knives and oven. The learner will need to be aware of safety with the utensils. Parents may offer guidance when needed. Any allergies or food needs will be addressed by the teacher and recipes will be tailored to the student if the teacher is notified in advance. Ingredients include: Whipped cream, choc chips, expresso, mascarpone cheese, eggs, sugar, unsweetened cocoa,butter,flour, baking powder,coconut, cinnamon, cardamom, jam, sweet rice flour and ice cream.
