This class is intended for younger students interested in a friendly intro on how to make their own 3D games! ๐น๏ธ ๐จ Please download and test prior to starting the class. ๐พ See 'Supply List' below for link to download the free Atmosphir app. ๐ก If Atmosphir is installed on the same computer as Zoom, it would be easier for students to show what they are doing, if they need help. 3 lessons//3 Weeks
ย Week 1Lesson 1Atmosphir IntroductionStudents learn the basic branching level design mechanisms of Atmosphir. They will first be introduced to the game by playing a tutorial game level, which also educates on the things needed to put together a workable game. Through direct instruction, students will follow along with the teacher as he shows them how to put together a basic game.... Making a floor, setting up a flag, stacking objects, creating a hazard, etc.ย Week 2Lesson 2Basic Coding PracticeStudents learn how to resize objects and stack them on the screen, as well as how to use powerups. Students learn how to use Atmosphir's very basic coding features to turn a Chicken Harzard to friendly character that talks to the player and helps protect them from other Hazards. Students also learn the basic mechanisms of moving platforms and coding boxes.ย Week 3Lesson 3Other Atmosphir FeaturesStudents learn how to make teleporters, as well as how to use key/locks to unlock gates and treasure chests. Students also learn how to create hidden areas in their game.
This class is taught in English.
- 1. Students will learn to use critical thinking skills to plan out their video game and make informed decisions using appropriate digital tools and resources. 2. Students will learn to identify and solve authentic problems with their game and figure out a way (investigation) on how to fix them.
