Students will learn how to visualize and draw a house in three types/views of architectural drawings.
My background is in architecture and I have worked in the field for 15 years, drawing construction documents and designing buildings. I use a computer to draw now, but I firmly believe that drawing by hand is critically important when learning about design and architecture. For kids, designing by hand, putting thought to paper by hand BEFORE (or alongside) utilizing the computer helps develop their spatial perception and critical thinking. When I was a kid, I used to draw floor plans of my dream house. Looking back, I wish I had a class like this so I could further my designs!
Homework Offered
Each student will design their dream house or draw the house they live in. Drawing homework may take 1-2 hours per week. Model building may take longer depending on how detailed the student wishes to get.1 - 2 hours per week outside of class
