What's included

3 live meetings
2 hrs 15 mins in-class hours
Homework
1-2 hours per week. There is no planned homework for this class however learners should be aware that artists work at different paces and those who are not able to complete work during class time may want to spend some extra time in between classes. Our goal will be to complete this art work by the end of the third week but some artists may find they need more time for finishing touches.

Class Experience

In this three session class learners will design a dragon and work through the process of design, drawings, and finishing ant art piece of their dragons.
Learners will work in pencil and graphite in week one during the design process and then move on to a material of their choosing.

CLASS 1: In class one we will look at composition, drawing from reference, plotting, and pencil work for painting or inking. We will create color swatches and a value study.

CLASS 2: In class two we will use our studies to begin our dragon art with the materials we've chosen. We will look at negative space, line weight, material techniques, and light and shadow, and background options.

CLASS 3: In class three we will further work on our dragon artwork and consider details contrast, and preservation or display options.

This is NOT a step-by-step class. Learners will be guided through the steps to be successful but will create individual art works. No two dragons will likely be the same (but they can be!).

Learners should be comfortable speaking and sharing on camera. This is an intermediate class and therefore a strong understanding or interest in drawing is suggested.
