Class Experience

In this course students will create their own city map using fundamental geometry. We will cover the following topics
Week 1. Coordinates and graphing on the coordinate plane. The midpoint formula.
Week 2. Slope and lines. Polygons
Week 3. Introduction to Desmos and Presentations

This weekly schedule is only an outline.

My class structure is similar to a normal classroom setting in that we may start with a warm - up or introducing new vocabulary, followed by direct instruction, guided practice within the live class. Some days, I may allow students to present work to the class.

I like to teach using guided notes. They will be provided so the student should have a printer. Students should expect to be physically writing and solving math problems not just using a calculator or google to solve problems and do the work. You aren't receiving a grade. This is just to have fun and build on your math skill.

Students will be able to interact with me through zoom, class will be similar to a traditional school setting, I will record videos of the lessons so that they can be used to practice.

Students should be able to graph an ordered pair, locate a point on a graph and tell me its coordinates, they should be able to do basic arithmetic.

We will do some simplifying of radicals but it will not be intense.

After completion of this activity, add it to your academic resume, especially if you plan to major in STEM or plan on applying to academic Summer Camps in the future.

Parental Guidance
If a student chooses to make a physical map this is an awesome activity to do with a parent.
Supply List
You will not need anything except a printer to print out the notes. I suggest saving them if you have not completed geometry, they will be useful.

The final course assessment can be completed digitally or you can make a physical poster representation. If you choose the latter, you will need the following items:
- Poster Board
- Glue
- Scissors
- Markers/colored pencils
- Ruler
- White and colored paper
- Graph Paper
 1 file available upon enrollment
