Beginner Level
In this one time class, students will take a deep dive into the desert habitat and learn about the different animals that live there and how to classify them. Our class will include an interactive Nearpod lesson, vocabulary, songs, and a short story. Each learner will also receive additional handouts and activities to extend their learning at home. Sample Schedule: 5 minutes: Welcome and Intro of Lesson 15 minutes- Mini Lesson 5 minutes- Review/Closing Students will learn: -Ecosystem Understanding: Students will learn about the unique characteristics of desert ecosystems, including the challenges animals face in these harsh environments and the adaptations they have developed to survive. -Animal Identification and Classification: Students will become proficient in identifying and classifying desert animals based on their physical features, behaviors, and habitats. They will learn about the different taxonomic groups and how animals are classified scientifically. -Communication Skills: Students will improve their ability to communicate scientific information effectively through discussions about desert animals, habitats, and classification. -Mapping and Geography: Students may learn about the geographical distribution of desert ecosystems around the world, as well as how animals adapt to different desert regions. Please note that Nearpod and Kahoot activities will be student paced interactive activities and do not require accounts to be made. Students will enter the access code to participate.

Hi everyone! Welcome to class! I am Miss Kate. I have 15+ years of teaching experience with students ages 2-14 years old. I am passionate about early childhood education and building the foundation for life long learning. My classes will be engaging and focus on a variety of topics including early literacy, early math and life skills. I live in the Pacific Northwest with my husband and 3 (yes, three) big dogs!
I believe in engaging and playful learning and will teach my classes in a fun and interactive way including songs, digital & interactive games, and lots of interaction and opportunities for engagement.
I am certified to teach K-8 Elementary, K-12 Special Education and Early Childhood Education. In addition, I have a certificate in Child Psychology from Penn Foster, a certificate in Autism Studies from Arizona State University and a certificate in Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) from Arizona State University. I love to teach and look forward to meeting your child!
