In this descriptive writing course, students write a 500 word essay on what major issue in their world that they would want to change. 

A self-paced course that helps students write creatively about issues specific to their world using a standard, 5-paragraph essay format. 

Our first lesson details what the prompt is all about---What in YOUR world do you want to change? Students will take time to consider what THEIR world really encompasses and brainstorm various topics they would want to explore. 

Welcome!-- Brainstorming

This week, students will work with the results from their brainstorming exercise and begin outlining their drafts. Students will develop a thesis, topic sentences, and organize their outlines in a logical manner in order to make the drafting of their essay more efficient.

Outline

Time to write! Students will begin drafting, using their outline as the framework for their essays. During this step, students will workshop with one another in class, offering feedback and thoughts on their peers essays.

During our final lesson, students will revise and proofread their work, taking feedback provided by their instructor and classmates into consideration, while also proofreading their essays for grammar, punctuation, and syntax, in order to produce a clean & crisp final draft.
