Descriptive Writing: Make and Describe a Monster
In this two part creative writing class, students will hone their descriptive writing skills by describing a drawing and reproducing the drawings of their classmates.

Description
Class Experience
Students will use creativity to draw a simple monster. Students will write a paragraph describing their monster. Students will practice public speaking skills by reading their descriptions aloud to their peers.
I have six years of experience teaching writing to elementary students. This activity is always a fun one!
Students may need to finish their drawings and descriptions after the first class if extra time is needed.
1 file available upon enrollmentStudents will need the templates in the pdf file. Please print both pages before class. Students will also need need a pencil, as well as colored pencils, markers, or crayons and about six sheets of white paper.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
If the student's drawing can be reproduced by his classmates and teacher, then he or she will have created an accurate, detailed description.
1 hour 30 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
