What's included

Class Experience

Students will learn choreography to a song from the Descendants' soundtracks using jazz and hip-hop dance technique through pre-recorded video lessons. By the end of the series, they will have a full dance routine to take away, in addition to a basic understanding of jazz and hip-hop dance.
 
Week 1: 
I will start the lesson with stretches and a warm-up dance
Technique lesson (jazz turns, jazz walks, pirouettes, kick ball change, ball change, releve, plies, and other techniques applicable to the dance choreography)
Step-by-step dance instruction to 1/3 of song

Week 2: 
Stretches and a warm-up dance
Technique lesson (jazz turns, jazz walks, pirouettes, kick ball change, ball change, releve, plies, and other techniques applicable to the dance choreography)
Step-by-step dance instruction to 1/3 of song

Week 3: 
Stretches and a warm-up dance
Technique lesson (jazz turns, jazz walks, pirouettes, kick ball change, ball change, releve, plies, and other techniques applicable to the dance choreography)
Step-by-step dance instruction to last portion of song

Week 4: 
Stretches and a warm-up dance
Technique lesson (jazz turns, jazz walks, pirouettes, kick ball change, ball change, releve, plies, and other techniques applicable to the dance choreography)
Step-by-step review of full dance choreography

Each week I encourage interaction through optional student video submissions, fun Descendants' trivia, questions, and feedback!

This class format is great for learners with schedule restrictions or non-live class preferences. It's also a great way to get one-on-one attention and fine-tuned training.
Learning Goals
Students will learn a combination of jazz and hip-hop dance technique through choreography. By the end of the choreography series, everyone would have learned a dance routine.

Parental Guidance
Parents, please be aware of any potential hazards in your child's space when completing their lesson. Keep in mind the following: needing an open workout space, jazz dance shoes, slip-proof socks or bare feet, a water bottle, and proper clothing. If you are concerned about your child's safety it is recommended that you properly supervise them while they complete their lesson. In addition, your child may need assistance with filming their video submission ("homework").
Supply List
1) Open dance space
2) Webcam, tablet, smartphone (or any type of video recorder) to film the video submissions (aka "homework assignment") 
3) Jazz dance shoes, slip-proof socks or bare feet.
4) Access to water
External Resources
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.

Teacher expertise and credentials
I have been a dance and performing arts instructor for 20 years. I own a dance studio and produce various dance and theater productions in my community. Since COVID-19 I’ve been regularly filming video lessons for my students with a high-quality camera and editing software so that my students can maintain receiving professional dance lessons each week. Prior to that, I have experience with filming tutorials and video lessons for students as an aide to help them enhance their dance instruction.
