Class Experience

Love Demon Slayer and want a quick fun watercolor course? Want to practice sketching and watercoloring with characters from Demon Slayer? This class is designed for you!

In this art course, students will focus on the characters Nezuko and Tanjiro from the anime Demon Slayer. Students will practice their drawing and watercoloring skills with these two characters. Students will utilize different techniques and approaches to execute a full "shoulder and up" profile. This class is designed for the anime fan who wants to take their drawings to the next level. Art experience is not necessary but helpful.

The four-week itinerary includes:
💥 Week 1: Nezuko: In class we will be drawing the docile version of Nezkuo with her mouth guard. Students will learn facial proportions, measuring techniques and how to execute a drawing of Nezuko from her shoulders and up.
💥 Week 2: Tanjiro: Students will practice the same techniques from week one but work with Tanjiro. Students will execute both a drawing of Tanjiro from the shoulders up.
💥 Week 3: Watercoloring Nezuko: Students will watercolor their drawings from week one. Students will learn to prep their watercolor paper, implement a flat wash, understand layering colors, learn tips/tricks and go over step-by-step of the watercoloring process.
💥 Week 4: Watercolor Tanjiro: Students will practice the same techniques from week three but with Tanjiro.

This class will be presented via Keynote and is an art based class. This is a FLEX class and is PRE-RECORDED. This means students will watch the pre-recorded video. Students will engage in questions, class discussions, and art assignments. Homework is optional. Students will be encouraged to share their artwork and engage with their fellow classmates in questions and discussions.

Why Flex?
🔰 Flex classes are fantastic for international students (Mrs. V is located in Texas).
🔰 Students can work at their own pace. No need to wait on others or feel rushed.
🔰 Flex classes are an excellent choice for families with busy schedules.
🔰 This class is a "flex" class, meaning there is no live component, and all interactions between students and the teacher happens on the class page. The live version links are at the beginning of this class description.

FLEX FORMAT:
🔹 Video Content: Weekly videos with a step-by-step breakdown of the art assignments are posted. Some videos will have a 20 to 35 minute duration. The work time for the student will be roughly an hour long. Students will review the video.
🔹 Discussion Prompt/Question/Check-in: Students respond to a weekly discussion prompt and/or question(s) posted by the teacher.
🔹 Complete Artwork: Students spend time completing their sketches.
🔹 Submit Artwork: Students are required to post photos of their completed sketches in the classroom on the designated post. If the student would prefer to keep this private, they can post privately to the teacher as well. Keep in mind, sharing artwork is essential in a flex class.
🔹 Feedback: The teacher and students post positive feedback on each other’s work. Mrs. V offers private and public feedback at the request of the students. Individualized feedback will not be given unless directly requested. Maturity, kindness, and thoughtful comments are encouraged and cultivated in the classroom.

Parental Guidance
We will be painting throughout this class for week 3 and 4. Please set up an area where your child can use the computer while working with paint. Students will be encouraged to work on an angled surface. You can attach the watercolor paper with tape to a board and prop it or use a book to prop against. This is highly recommended as we will use gravity to manipulate the paint.
