Class Experience

Delta Green is a game of cosmic horror and conspiracy. The learners design characters that will become enlisted in Delta Green, a top secret organization protecting society from the horrors lurking in the dark. The role-playing game has won many awards for game design and writing, and the writing truly is some of the best I've ever seen in the rpg space over the last 30 years. Pop-culture Conspiracies like Illuminati, Area 51 and the Philadelphia Experiment have all been given a cosmic horror spin.

Schedule:
Saturday April 30rd: We design characters. The process is in-depth, asking questions about who these people were before they were exposed to cosmic horrors, including childhood, adolescence and early adulthood.

Saturday April 7th: We start the first scenario, or Operation. The characters have their first encounter with cosmic horrors.

Saturday May 14th: If the first scenario if finished, we do downtime - what happens with the characters between missions? Do they interact with friends or family?

Saturday May 21st: We possibly start with the second scenario.

This game works wonderfully as an Ongoing class. As the players are playing government agents, their characters get assigned to cases by superiors, which means that it is easy to come and go from the table. If someone wants to join for the 6th class, that's no problem - someone somewhere simply assigned a new agent to this group. If someone has to take a break, their character is away on a different mission and not available right now.

Other Details

Parental Guidance
This game is one that deals with mature themes in cosmic horror. The game presents a setting where human darkness invites the horrors. Evil cults can include neo-nazis, organized crime cartels, scientists conducting horrific experiments on human subjects, or corrupt government officials who use their power to enrich themselves with no regard for who they abuse. The game also asks questions about how getting exposed to the horrors affect the player characters and their relations at home, thus dealing with the topic of mental health.
