Reading ;-)Class Experience
US Grade Kindergarten - 1
The best way to become a better reader is to read often. Join me for storytime. Come read new stories in this story time class. Students enrolling should have a good handle on letter names, letter sounds, CVC words, short three letter words with the same ending (at, cat, mat, fat, rat), and some sight words. During these sessions students with be encouraged to listen to a book read aloud and... 1. Summarize the story 2. Answer reading comprehension questions about the book 3. Share their opinion (prompted by open-ended questions) **Some reading requests are able to be accommodated. All book requests must occur at least seven days before the first class begins. No session will exceed more than seven students and sessions will be limited to 15 minutes for younger age groups (5-7). **I will not cancel sections if only one learner signs up. It will be a private reading section with student and teacher practice.
Learning Goals
Students will learn to read more confidently, make the appropriate pauses when reading, and learn common literary rules.
