Digraphs are two letters that work together to make a new sound. They are important to recognize and identify because there are several words that contain them! When your little learner has mastered the majority of letter sounds, and are able to blend simple CVC (3-letter) words, they might be ready to learn how to read digraphs. Students will use their knowledge of individual letter sounds to blend, segment, and decode digraphs Develop an understanding of vowel sounds (long and short) and how they are used within a word. Begin to develop pre-writing and writing skills.
I have a degree in Elementary Education (K-6). I have taught 2nd and 3rd grade in a public school setting, as well as, children from all around the world online!
-A printable handout(s) for students will be provided 24 hours prior to class. -Students will need something to write with (pencil, marker, and/or crayons). -Occasionally students will need a glue stick and scissors (OR pieces cut out before class)
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
Parents can assist with gathering materials before class if needed. Also, since this class is intended for young learners, it is recommended that the parent sits nearby and/or teach your child to push the UNMUTE/MUTE button. This will cut down on any unwanted background noise and allow the class to run as smooth as possible!
