This lesson aims to raise awareness about what deforestation is in the context of balanced debate and discussion while learning  where it happens, why, and how.
Deforestation is a term used when humans burn or cut down large areas of trees to make space for pasture, agricultural land, city expansion or fuel. There are two main types of deforestation that we will look at:

Burning down of trees 
Cutting down of trees (including logging). 

We will discuss why there isn't a simple answer to this issue and explore what the impact on our climate may be.


This lesson will explore in more detail: 

What is deforestation?
Different types of forests. 
Wildfires and their effect on forests.
Reasons behind deforestation. 
Sustainability and  animals in the environment, plants are essential to life.
Fractured habitats.

To be able to discuss countries where deforestation has a huge local impact.

There will be times that I will send links to useful videos. In order to access some of the resources you will need to have access to Youtube. You will not need to have a Youtube account and the links will be sent through the. Outschool platform.
