This is a multi week course that dives deeper into the practical science behind how cars and trucks work. Each week we will delve into a couple of topics as we go through the entire supporting system of a automobile. This is a sequel to the "Deeper Understanding of Cars and Trucks #1". It is not necessary to take class #1 first, but is recommended. Course outline: Week 1: The Electrical System Fuses Wires Alternator Relay Battery Ignition systems Week 2: Computer Control System OBD-II Check Engine Light Stats Trouble Codes Sensors Week 3: Engine Temperature Control Radiator Fan Water pump Thermostat Coolant Week 4: Climate Control AC Heater Week 5: Frame Suspension Shock Absorbers Springs Leaf Coiled McPherson Struts vs Double Wishbone U-Joints This course is a combination of lecture, interactive whiteboarding, video animations, and discussion. There is a small amount of homework each week, which consists of exploring your own vehicle to find the components discussed in class. Some week it is just reporting back, others will ask for pictures. Either way its a lot of fun and applies what we learned to real life.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Early on in life I became fascinated by cars and the technology that makes them work. As a teenager I was tasked with maintaining the family business fleet of cars and trucks, which included diesels. I was rebuilding diesel injection pumps and tuning engines back in high school. This work/hobby has stayed with me through the decades as I maintained the understanding of the evolving technologies until today I maintain all my own farm equipment on my small farm.
Couple the experience of how to do things with the deep understanding of how and why they work, and then add a unique ability to explain things in a easy to grasp way, and that describes this class.
