This course will be divided up between four classes. We will focus on Roosevelt's early life before focusing on his political career including the Spanish American War. Afterwards, we will take a look at his sudden presidency followed by his life after leaving office. We will discuss information presented on slides that detail the key points in each stage in his life along with pictures to bring his life real and visual to the students. After each section we will have a time to discuss what...
Students will learn about the Roosevelt's upbringing during the Civil War, Reconstruction, and how it shaped his views on policy, war, and beliefs. We will also look at what Roosevelt did in the international stage as America grew as a superpower and how he became a cultural icon today.
55 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 0 - 1 hours per week outside of class.
We will talk about Roosevelt's views of empires and colonization, and how he maintained a dim view of people and nations who had be conquered. We will also take a look at the racist point of views Roosevelt had held.
