No need to invest in a pricy curriculum that just gives you stuff with no guide how to teach the material. I have been teaching for many years in a public school and know that children learn best when they have manipulatives to help learn the concept. We will be learning all the kindergarten math concepts that your child needs to learn before heading to first grade including movement activities. Our Day: We will first greet each other and sing a welcome song. Getting to know our friends is an important part of their social development. Our greeting will lead into calendar time where they will learn the days of the week, months of the year, how to read the date, weather, and the season. I always ask challenge questions about our date each day. Next, the class will review a few basic skills such as numbers and counting before learning the new skill for that day. Next, we will have a guided practice on the new skill and are encouraged to ask questions if they do not understand. When they are finished, they will hold it up so I can make sure they are doing it correctly and offer feedback. Each class, the children will be given extra work which is optional and does not need to be turned in. I go above and beyond to make sure my student's succeed. My teaching style is very calm and patient. I will give student's time to think about their answers. If they are wrong, I walk them through how to fix it and give lots of praise often. I do give out digital in class rewards when they are doing a great job listening. I also use digital props to help teach lessons. Every 4-6 weeks, you will receive a progress report explaining what skills your child has mastered during class, what skills they are progressing towards, and what skills that need extra practice. I want all children to succeed! Below is a breakdown of some of what is taught: We will practice matching quantities, counting, and writing with numbers 1-10. We will practice matching quantities, counting, and writing with numbers 11-20. We will frame groups of 5 up to 20. We will be practicing counting on from a given number. We will use a number chart to find a number that is 10 more or 10 less than a given number. We will learn ordinal numbers and how to count using ordinal numbers. We will learn how many more do we need to add to find a number. We will learn how to add using the number line. We will learn equal and unequal parts of shapes, shape symmetry, and how to find shapes in shapes. We will learn how to count by 10's to 100. We will learn how to use tally marks and count them. We will learn to use greater than and less than using the "greater gator." We will be learning how to compare two numbers We will be learning how to tell time to the nearest half hour. We will learn how to identify coins, count money, and decide how much we need to purchase items.

Hello Everyone!! I love to teach fun and engaging classes for children ages 3-8. I enjoy being silly and singing silly songs with the class. My puppets and my own pets often visit the class. I have been teaching Prekindergarten for the past 8 years and before that, I taught kindergarten for 9 years. I love the energy that the young learners bring to class.
When I am not teaching, you will find me hanging out with my family around a camp fire or traveling around the United States. I am also a Girl Scout leader in my community and love taking my Girl Scout troop on many adventures including camping trips, field trips and hiking trips. We like to earn a lot of STEM and nature badges. I love the outdoors and try to get out as much as possible. When I taught in the local public school classroom, I would often take my class outdoors to teach if it was a nice day. So come join me in class and see what adventures we will take! I have been getting requests for classes during the after school hours, so I am starting to add more classes during the after school hours. I look forward to seeing you in class!!
