Class Experience
What makes cupcakes so delicious, pretty, and fun? Without adjectives and adverbs, they would be bland and even boring! In this one-time class, students will practice using adjectives and adverbs to “decorate” words in sentences to make the text more interesting. Students will enjoy a fun cupcake theme while they discuss the differences between these parts of speech and practice using both in sentences. This class is taught in English.
Students will leave class having learned the difference between adjectives and adverbs. They will have the opportunity to practice using both parts of speech themselves as well as practice reading sentences and paragraphs.
I have taught reading comprehension and grammar skills to students in public elementary and middle schools for 4 years as a certified speech-language pathologist. I have used original texts to determine a student's baseline skills as well as to measure progress throughout the year.
30 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
