What makes cupcakes so delicious, pretty, and fun? Without adjectives and adverbs, they would be bland and even boring! In this one-time class, students will practice using adjectives and adverbs to “decorate” words in sentences to make the text more interesting. Students will enjoy a fun cupcake theme while they discuss the differences between these parts of speech and practice using both in sentences. As the teacher, I will guide the students to identify both parts of speech in phrases, sentences, and paragraphs and to use adjectives and adverbs correctly in sentences. No prior experience is needed for students to participate in class.
Learning Goals
Students will leave class having learned the difference between adjectives and adverbs. They will have the opportunity to practice using both parts of speech themselves as well as practice reading sentences and paragraphs.
