We all want our children and students to develop higher-level thinking skills. What better way to do that than through word problems?! Deciphering math stories doesn't have to be intimidating. In this course, learners will learn the problem solving strategy of UPSC (Understand, Plan, Solve, and Check). Learners will practice annotating, planning, analyzing, solving, and checking problems using anchor charts and graphic organizers. These tools will give learners more confidence answering story problems. Learners will practice learned strategies using real-world one and multistep examples and will eventually move to solving problems in a group board game.
