Decoding Skills CAMP- For Beginning Readers! (for Kinder-1st Grade)
This camp is for beginning/emergent readers in grades K-1! I will explicitly teach decoding skills that will allow them to become SUPERSTAR readers and writers. (This is for students who already know their letter names and sounds.)

This ONE WEEK CAMP will teach beginning readers CRUCIAL decoding skills for reading success! Ever have your child ask "how do you say this word?" because it doesn't follow 'typical' English patterns or the letter's short sound? THIS CLASS TEACHES THESE IMPORTANT IRREGULAR SOUND PATTERNS IN WORDS that they will find in Level A - Z books. Instead of teaching them to memorize that ONE word, I teach the "rule"/skill in a fun and engaging way that is GUARANTEED to work since it taps into the social part of their brain. We will learn a few new decoding skills each week: Day 1 - Intro, Vowel Skill Review, silent E & near vowels Day 2- Double Vowels, AL & PH Day 3 - IE, OO & EW/EU Day 4 - AY/EY & ER/IR/UR Day 5 - OR, ED, & AR
