Welcome to Decoding Detectives: 1:1 Reading Training & Tutoring In these personalized sessions the student will learn strategies and tools to become more confident and successful readers. In each 45 minute lesson, I will work one on one with the student on skills that are tailored to their specific needs. The first tutoring session will be spent gathering information and assessing to gain an understanding of where the student is in their knowledge of phonemic awareness, letter identification...
Student will gain confidence in their reading ability. Student will improve their phonemic awareness. Student will learn the "secret codes" that will help them decode words more efficiently. Student will improve their sight word vocabulary.
Homework is not assigned, however, I will usually post some parent resources or extension from the lesson that can be used at home.
Student will need a whiteboard and dry erase marker. If this is not accessible then a paper and pencil will be fine.
Student will be given a pre-assessment to help me plan their instruction and assessed throughout the tutoring sessions with informal observations.
1 hour 30 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 0 - 1 hours per week outside of class.
