Decode With Me: Sound It, Say It, Read It!
In this class, children will be given a series of short assessments to identify gaps in their phonic knowledge and their application of it.

This session will lay the foundation for an individual reading plan/programme. It will asess children's previous knowledge and skills: evaluting their strengths and the gaps in their phonetically knowledge and also their appllication of phonics to decode words and read a text. Class structure: Phonic sound cards, oral sound-blending, sound-blending for reading. Children will learn via various learning style: find an object which has a particular sound, match words and pictures, listening to sounds and blending. Children will interract through games, video clips and reflective discussion.

- strengths: sounds I know and can apply to help me become a fluent reader
- gap in knowledge: sounds I need to learn to help me become a fluent reader

I teach reading and maths classes. Reading classes focus on early reading skills such as decoding and word recognition. Maths sessions are directed at primary school aged children.
I am a qualified primary school teacher with over 20 years teaching experience. I also run a business that teaches coding using lego education resources.
I aim to develop confidence in children by helping them to understand the learning process and recognise where they are on their learning journey. This approach empowers and enables children to recognise that effort and practice provide rewards of progress and competencies.
I have spent my entire life in the classroom with the exception of my toddler years. Children are always in my life whether it be with children in the classroom, my own children at home or my grandchildren. A couples things about me: I have learnt an awful lot about how children think and learn. My car boot is full of sporting equipment ready for a fun day.
