Teacher expertise and credentials
Master's Degree in Education from High Tech High Graduate School of Education
I teach a variety of classes with one goal - to build your child's confidence through the heart and the mind. From beginning reading courses to music and song, I hope to show your child all of the ways he/she is ALREADY amazing and has the potential to use his/her heart and mind to accomplish every goal and dream! In my classroom, this looks like a continuous celebration of effort, a fun place to make mistakes, and constant positive reinforcement that will have your child feeling proud.
I am currently a credentialed first grade teacher and an International Teacher Leader. I have traveled to Asia and the Middle East to hold workshops, speak at conferences, and work with students and educators from all over the world. I absolutely LOVE watching children light up when they learn how their unique talents and qualities help to make them AWESOME both within the classroom and beyond.
In addition to teaching primary school for 9 years, I also love to sing and play instruments such as the piano, clarinet, saxophone, and drums. A fun fact about me is that I played in a traveling jazz band in middle school, marching band in high school, and cheered in the 2007 Pro-Bowl in Hawaii! I have tutored and taught children in music, dance, cheer, art, creative writing, stage presence, and public speaking. When teaching, I love to mix hard work with random sprinkles of silly. I also love to engage students in authentic projects where children learn the skills needed to create work that they are proud of!
