This ongoing Debate Team class will focus on current events and hot topics for students to practice their argumentative skills. Students will work with others to talk about pros and cons on subjects and even having to debate a topic that they don’t agree with. They will learn the importance of facts versus opinions when debating. No experience is needed. The topics we will discuss are as follows: plastic water bottles if students should return to a classroom next school year the age they should be allowed to start driving the voting age What age is okay to be in a relationship employment ages mask safety What age to have a social media account What age to be left alone at home recycling Curfew times Should you get allowance for doing chores What age to have a cell phone What age to do your own laundry Each week will cover 3-4 new topics and students will have to discuss with and against their peers. As the weeks progress, students will improve their abilities to debate topics.

Students will learn critical thinking and argumentative skills to debate topics with their peers.

Content may cover topics that students disagree with or may find at a higher maturity level. Parental guidance may be needed.

Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.

Hello! You can call me Teacher T, Teacher Tiffany or Mrs.Hite. I have a Bachelors in Elementary Education and a Masters in Communication. I have a passion for teaching! I have taught in the first grade classroom. Currently I teach children from 3-14 years old English online. I also teach insurance to adult learners. I love helping students learn and grow by using creative thinking and fun activities.
