In this 8 week class students will learn about and participate in competitive debates. Together, we'll learn the skills necessary to craft logical arguments and strong rebuttals, while practicing our team work and public speaking skills.

Description
Class Experience
Students will learn about and gain experience with team policy debate. Students will practice public speaking skills, building arguments, and crafting rebuttals.
Teacher Mel is a graduate of the University of New Brunswick's Faculty of Law. She has participated in and coached several debates and moot courts.
Students are encouraged to do some research before each class on that day's topic.
Please bring paper and pen/pencil to each class.
There will be no formal assessment but families are always encouraged to reach out with any questions about student progress.
50 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 0 - 1 hours per week outside of class.
Students will be active participates in a debate during this class. We'll also utilize the break out room function in the Outschool classroom.
