Welcome to our Debate and Communication Skills Class! This dynamic course offers a unique opportunity for students to join at any time and dive into the world of persuasive discourse. Each week, we explore exciting new topics, ensuring a fresh and engaging experience for all participants. In this class, students will master the art of proper debate, learning how to present compelling arguments and actively listen to and counter opposing viewpoints. Through targeted exercises and practical activities, learners will develop excellent communication skills that extend far beyond the classroom. Sample Topics: The impact of social media on society Homeschooling vs. traditional schooling: Which is better? Should junk food be prohibited in schools? The influence of television on children: Beneficial or detrimental? The necessity of school uniforms Ethical considerations of consuming animal products We understand that public speaking can be a daunting task for many individuals. Therefore, our curriculum focuses not only on building confidence but also on equipping students with lifelong argumentation skills. These skills are not only essential for professional success but also for effective everyday communication. Our class structure is designed to maximize participation and skill development. Upon joining, students will be assigned a topic for the week, enabling them to prepare arguments for both the proposition and opposition sides. However, the specific position they will argue will be revealed in class, fostering adaptability and versatility in their debate skills. During debates, each team will have an opening speaker who presents a well-constructed case. Following this, students will engage in rebuttal rounds, where they will learn to deconstruct and weaken their opponents' points while skillfully adding their own perspectives. To enhance organization and facilitate effective counterarguments, debaters and listeners will be provided with flow sheets to actively take notes throughout the entire debate. What sets our class apart is the flexibility to join at any time and the guarantee of new and exciting topics each week. Parental Guidance
The topics for this course will be discussed with the students. We will cover current events or relevant topics. We will not discuss topics such as; abortion, drugs, or sexuality in this class. The teacher will share screen during class to the, and no accounts or outside sources are needed.

Our teachers have been teaching Debate and Public Speaking groups for the last 9 years to elementary through high school students. We have taking courses on Debate through The Middle School Debate Program. Additionally, we have certified teachers who have been teaching a variety of subjects, including ESL, Special Education, English, Writing, Math, Science, History, Geography and Philosophy.
