⭐ If you are new to Outschool, use code 𝗝𝗔𝗬𝗝𝗔𝗖𝗢𝟮𝟬 to save $20! (Can be used on any class on Outschool) ⭐ This is one of my (DM Jingleheimer) favorite adventures. It has everything! This adventure is in Icewind Dale, in the 𝗙𝗿𝗼𝘇𝗲𝗻 𝗡𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗵 section of the D&D maps. Who doesn't love the cold?? First, we adventurers have to learn about Ten Towns; and then we have to find some awesome relics. Then, bad things happen and we have to stop them. Twice! Next, we learn that we can't stop them. Finally, we learn that we can! It's a rollercoaster ride of emotion and excitement. Yes, that little blurb was pretty vague. I can't give you spoilers, can I? You can trust that you will have a good time though. On the first day, the students will create their characters and the start of the adventure will be introduced. The following sessions will be playing the adventure. I will be running them through the published campaign book titled 'Icewind Dale: Rime of the Frostmaiden.' Parents are welcome to read the material, but I don't recommend students doing so, as it will be a huge spoiler to the story. Some of the content will be toned down for the audience.
Learning Goals
Students will get to pick up on social cues, experience team building exercises, develop critical thinking skills, gain math and reading comprehension, engage in moral and ethics discussions, receive creative story building and character creation experience, create in-game and real life bonds and friendships, and more.
Other Details
Parental Guidance
Dungeons & Dragons is a roleplaying game that involves players defeating monsters and villains using imaginary swords, axes, hammers, bows and magic. The violence involved is imaginary. The use of alcohol is a trope in this game, but not actually a key aspect - for example, the players will sometimes meet in a tavern to receive quests.
There are monsters such as witches and devils in Dungeons & Dragons. Players will sometimes run across these creatures in their games, but they aren't intended to be worshiped or idolized - they are often written into the story with the expressed intention that they be defeated.
Supply List
Please have a computer with a mouse if you can. Tablets are okay, but they don't interact with the maps very well. Also, Chrome and Firefox are the preferred internet browser for Roll20. Edge doesn't like to load and Safari turns Roll20 into a Picasso.
External Resources
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
Teacher expertise and credentials
I have more than 6 years (10,000+ hours) of Dungeon Master experience, and use my 20 years of Navy public relations training and voice acting skills to tell unique stories and create inventive puzzles & scenarios to engage all of my players, both young and old.
