Description
Class Experience
The students in this class are actively involved in their learning. They will study the core mechanics of Dungeons & Dragons by making "in-game" decisions. What's more, we'll stress the importance of teamwork as a means to success, both in the game and in everyday life. Week 1: Clash with Kobolds (Level 1) week of 12/26 Week 2: Battle of the Goblin Gang (Level 2) week of 1/2 Week 3: The Owlbear's Might! (Level 3) week of 1/9 Week 4: There be Werefolk (Level 4) week of 1/16 Week 5: Ready for...
The course is designed to teach students how to work together effectively by solving problems, playing to each other's strengths, and communicating effectively.
You'll need dice and a character sheet to play Dungeons & Dragons (physical or digital)
After the adventure, students will be prompted to add up their character's experience points and "level them up."
1 hour 30 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 0 - 1 hours per week outside of class.
While I will keep the content age suitable, please keep in mind that there will be monsters, battle, and otherworldly magic. In the game, characters can die (but this will not be directly depicted). I am happy to make accommodations from parents based on what they believe their child is capable of handling.
Parents and students, please be aware that the D&D Beyond website (dndbeyond.com) can be a useful resource for students developing characters and other content for use in this course. It is up to you as a parent to decide whether or not to allow your child to use the D&D Beyond website, and doing so is not a prerequisite for this program. Any data or information supplied on the D&D Beyond website, or any other third-party website, is subject to those sites' own terms of service and privacy policies, over which we have no authority or responsibility.
