Class Experience

Each week, we’ll embark on an exciting adventure where students’ choices shape the story! Their decisions will impact the world around them, creating a unique and immersive experience. While students will have a blast crafting epic tales with their imagination, parents can enjoy seeing their child develop essential life skills—such as problem-solving, teamwork, and creative thinking—all while having fun!

📖 Story Introduction:
"Adventurer, Phaladin needs your help! We are rebuilding and can't deal with all the dangers around us! The orcs' love for destruction and cultists sacrificing whatever they can get their creepy hands on is just too much for us. Oh, and if that's not enough—a White Dragon has just moved in next door! Please, adventurer, we need your help!"

We will use the Dragon of Icespire Peak module as a foundation for our campaign, but the players’ choices will shape the direction of the story. I will adjust, modify, and expand the adventure based on their decisions, ensuring a dynamic and engaging experience where their actions truly matter.

🛡️ Character Creation:
Pre-made character sheets are available to help you get started.

Want to create your own? We’ll start at Level 1 and progress to Level 8 throughout the campaign.

Modify as you go! Changes can be made anytime—just check in before adjusting your character.

🧠 What Students Will Learn:
✅ Dungeons & Dragons 5e Rules – We use a combination of 2014, 2024, and homebrew rules tailored to the group’s needs.
✅ Learning Through Play – No memorization is required! Students will learn rules and mechanics as they engage in the game.
✅ Social Skills & Role-Playing – Whether interacting with party members or NPCs, students will practice communication and social interaction in a fun, low-pressure environment.
✅ Teamwork & Collaboration – Each character has strengths and weaknesses, and working together is key to overcoming challenges.
✅ Strategy & Problem-Solving – Students will develop critical thinking skills by tackling obstacles in and out of combat.
✅ Creative Thinking – Outside-the-box solutions are encouraged! The game world is filled with monsters, traps, and social dilemmas—how students handle them is up to their imagination.

🔄 Class Structure:
⏳ Welcome & Recap (10 min): We’ll review last week’s adventure and check in with players.
🎲 Gameplay (100 min): The group will make decisions, confront challenges, and build an epic story together.
💬 Debrief & Next Steps (10 min): We’ll reflect on the session and discuss what’s next for the adventure!

🎭 Teaching Style:
I believe in adapting to my students. While I always have a plan, I’m ready to adjust based on their choices, keeping the game fun, immersive, and engaging. I encourage creativity, problem-solving, and teamwork, and I use natural consequences within the game world to teach cause and effect.

With a small class size, students will have plenty of opportunities to interact with each other and with me. Dungeons & Dragons is more than just a game—it’s a collaborative storytelling experience where players take center stage, and the world reacts to their decisions.

If your teen loves adventure, creativity, and wants to learn as they play. Then this is the perfect class for them!

Content Advisory: I ensure all content remains age-appropriate and modify scenarios as needed to accommodate student sensitivities and phobias. Be aware of the following themes: ⚔️ Fantasy Combat: Players may use weapons or spells to overcome obstacles. 💀 Character & NPC Death: Player decisions matter which may lead to the in-game death of creatures, NPCs, or even player characters. Since 2010, I have been a Professional Dungeon Master for children and youth, teaching hundreds how to play Dungeons & Dragons. Working in a before-and-after school program allowed me to refine my skills at an exponential pace—challenging my imagination, creativity, and quick thinking. These experiences have shaped me into a dynamic DM and storyteller, always evolving while staying true to my philosophy of teaching life skills through imaginative play.

In addition, I am a Child and Youth Care Practitioner with 25 years of experience supporting children's life skills and cognitive development. My passion lies in using role-playing and storytelling—like D&D—to teach essential skills such as problem-solving, teamwork, and resilience in a fun and engaging way.
