This class is an introduction to Dungeons & Dragons 5th Edition, also known as "D&D 5e", which includes the new rules updates released in 2024. Over four classes, we will play live D&D, learn the rules as written in the D&D Player's Handbook, create Player Characters, and play some more D&D! Everyone will leave understanding how to participate in the game, and hopefully look forward to playing D&D with their family and friends, as I love to do. Day 1: We play some D&D and then go over the rules. I share my Virtual Table Top with the class, which runs on Fantasy Grounds Unity, and I use slide shows and Kahoot games to ensure engagement. Parents may either get the Kahoot.it app, or help their learner use a browser to pull up Kahoot.it. Day 2: We play some D&D and then build our very own Player Characters on DnDBeyond.com. Parents may want to help their learner create a free DnDBeyond.com account, which is needed for this class. Day 3: We go over the concepts of Role Playing, table etiquette, and how to have the most fun playing D&D. Then we play some D&D with our new Player Characters!! Day 4: This day is just for us to have fun playing Dungeons & Dragons with our new friends. Compassion, tolerance, and respectful communication are a requirement to play at my table or attend my classes. I work to create a healthy, safe, and positive environment for learners to appreciate my favorite way to spend time with my family and friends. Classes feature active learner involvement in live Role Play, discussions, and Kahoot games. This class is ideal for anyone who wants to learn more about Dungeons & Dragons. No previous knowledge or experience is required.
