In this ongoing Dungeons & Dragons class for ages 10 to 14 learners will create new, fledgling adventurers and guide them into becoming mighty heroes of the realm!  Learners will be able to interact with others as their character as well as participate in some good, old fashioned dungeon crawling! 

This class will give learners of all experience levels the full D&D experience.  Your hero will undertake perilous adventures and face horrible monsters.  By overcoming these challenges, your character will gain in experience, skills, and renown!  You will fight monsters, thwart villains, and bring peace and prosperity to the lands!

In game terms, we will create beginning heroes using the Dungeons & Dragons 5th edition rules.  Learners will have the opportunity to take part in a weekly adventure and see their characters grow in skill and power.

Previous experience is NOT a requirement!  We welcome all learners regardless of experience or skill level.  Rules will be taught as needed.

New learners are welcome as long as there is space available.

Role playing games are excellent vehicles to work on academic skills like reading, math, and social studies.  They are also outstanding ways to practice team work, leadership, negotiation, creative problem solving, and imagination!

Week one, Character Creation: Our first class will consist of character creation.  We will go beyond the numbers to create fully fleshed out personalities.  These personal details will inform the learner's decisions about how their character will react in different scenarios. *Please note that evil characters and PVP are not allowed.

Week two, Character completion/Background/Rules overview: The second class will have learners complete their characters followed by a brief overview of the rules.  The new heroes then receive their first mission from the League!

Week three, Rule familiarty/Investigation based decision making: During the third class the heroes will travel to their first assignment.  The goal seems straightforward: find out what is threatening the local villagers.  But things are not what they seem.  Dark deeds are afoot!

Week four, Learner direction choices: Learners will continue their investigation.  They will discover that all is not as it first appeared, and that a greater threat may lie beneath the surface.

Subsequent classes will be directed by learner interest and choices.

We will be using Roll20.net to visualize some of our encounters.  Learners may use Roll20 with parental permission, but it is not required.  Learners not on Roll20 will be able to view a screen share so they can still see the encounters and take part in the action!
