Description

Class Experience

This class is taught in English.
Students will get to pick up on social cues, experience team building exercises, develop critical thinking skills, gain math and reading comprehension, engage in moral and ethics discussions, receive creative story building and character creation experience, create in-game and real life bonds and friendships, and more.
I have more than 6 years (10,000+ hours) of Dungeon Master experience, and use my 20 years of Navy public relations training and voice acting skills to tell unique stories and create inventive puzzles & scenarios to engage all of my players, both young and old.
Before the class starts, students should have a character built. I am available to assist in this process.
* Student's will need access to a free website called Roll20.net. That's where we will play D&D, store their character sheets, and run the adventure. It is recommended to use roll20 on a laptop or computer because the student will benefit from being able to use a mouse and keyboard to control their characters and update their character sheets. Tablets hinder the students ability to move the map easily. * Also, while not mandatory, players will benefit by having the Dungeons & Dragons 5th Edition 'Player's Handbook' as they can pick up on the rules and come up with story ideas for their character concepts.
In addition to the Outschool classroom, this class uses:
This class is more for fun, but it does encourage many challenging thoughts that often play out as a developing factor in life. Problem solving, creative thinking, teamwork, and morals & ethics are some examples that come to mind right away.
2 hours per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
Dungeons & Dragons is a roleplaying game that involves players defeating monsters and villains using imaginary swords, axes, hammers, bows and magic. The violence involved is imaginary. The use of alcohol is a trope in this game, but not actually a key aspect - for example, the players will sometimes meet in a tavern to receive quests.

There are monsters such as witches and devils in Dungeons & Dragons. Players will sometimes run across these creatures in their games, but they aren't intended to be worshiped or idolized - they are often written into the story with the expressed intention that they be defeated.
While not mandatory, players will benefit by having the Dungeons & Dragons 5th Edition 'Player's Handbook' as they can pick up on the rules and come up with story ideas for their character concepts.
