⭐ If you are new to Outschool, use code 𝗝𝗔𝗬𝗝𝗔𝗖𝗢𝟮𝟬 to save $20! (Can be used on any class on Outschool) ⭐ Strixhaven University has everything a person in school would like. 𝗟𝗶𝗸𝗲 𝗺𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝗵𝗼𝗺𝗲𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸, exams, and cliques. Oh, and magic. Regarded as a college of Magic, students get to partake in magical shenanigans while avoiding those who plot to take down the school. Actually, it turns out that while your character is in college, someone is seeking to destroy it. So, after you take your Arcane Herbology exam, you should try and stop those who mean to harm others. Yes, you'll even get extra credit for doing so. I will be running them through the published campaign book titled 'Strixhaven: A Curriculum of Chaos.' Parents are welcome to read the material, but I don't recommend students doing so, as it will be a huge spoiler to the story. Some of the content will be toned down for the audience. * These sessions are player driven and new students will not need to know previous sessions to be able to join in this ongoing adventure. I will gladly assist new students with building their character sheet prior to the game (if time permits), so you can jump into the adventure immediately. * The platform we use to play Dungeons & Dragons allows the students to communicate in-game but it is not used outside of the game from the best of my knowledge. Chat logs of the game are accessible with your learner's account.
Learning Goals
Students will get to pick up on social cues, experience team building exercises, develop critical thinking skills, gain math and reading comprehension, engage in moral and ethics discussions, receive creative story building and character creation experience, create in-game and real life bonds and friendships, and more.
Other Details
Parental Guidance
Dungeons & Dragons is a roleplaying game that involves players defeating monsters and villains using imaginary swords, axes, hammers, bows and magic. The violence involved is imaginary. The use of alcohol is a trope in this game, but not actually a key aspect - for example, the players will sometimes meet in a tavern to receive quests.
There are monsters such as witches and devils in Dungeons & Dragons. Players will sometimes run across these creatures in their games, but they aren't intended to be worshiped or idolized - they are often written into the story with the expressed intention that they be defeated.
Supply List
Please have a computer with a mouse if you can. Tablets are okay, but they don't interact with the maps very well. Also, Chrome and Firefox are the preferred internet browser for Roll20. Edge doesn't like to load and Safari turns Roll20 into a Picasso.
External Resources
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
Teacher expertise and credentials
I have more than 7 years (14,000+ hours) of Dungeon Master experience, and use my 20 years of Navy public relations training and voice acting skills to tell unique stories and create inventive puzzles & scenarios to engage all of my players, both young and old.
