Days of the Week | Bilingual Mandarin-English “The Very Hungry Caterpillar”
As a follow up to the storytime class, this specific class will teach the Days of the Week and numbers 0-10 in more details so students will master both Mandarin and English.

Research shows that learning another language can be extremely beneficial for young learners. Children exposed to a second language have enhanced concentration, improved memory, and better listening skills. Traditional/Simplified words will be introduced from the story. The Mandarin numbers 0-10 and the Days of the Week will be mastered in this class. This class will be small and interactive, so all learners will have an opportunity to participate, if comfortable. No experience is required, all learners are welcomed. Teacher Stephenie will speak in both Mandarin Chinese and English, so students will be able to follow along in two languages. After a quick read of “The Very Hungry Caterpillar” in both Mandarin and English, students will go over numbers and the days of the week with fun visuals and interactive participation with Teacher Stephenie for retention. For this one-time class, handouts and optional homework packets will be provided to retain the materials learned in class.
Learning Goals
Students will hear a bilingual reading of a popular children’s book and specifically review the topics of numbers 0-10, the days of the week, and simple phrases in Mandarin. The one-time class will be taught in English and Mandarin, allowing students to understand and follow along.

My name is Ms. Stephenie. I have been teaching various subjects for over 28 years. Although I had a few major career changes, the one thing that never changed was my passion for teaching anyone who wants to learn.
While I have a Biomedical Engineering degree from Columbia University, my students also come to me to learn non-STEM subjects, test taking strategies, music and more.

I teach music theory to beginner students of all ages in fun interactive ways and have helped them with their music auditions.
As an Educational Consultant, private admissions consultant, teacher, tutor, a stay-at-home mother, PTO mom, baseball/softball and field hockey Coach, Robotics Coach and Girl Scout Troop Leader, I am passionate in guiding students to try new things, be successful in what they do and to help them accomplish their personal goals, whether it is to learn how to play tennis, or to bake cookies made from scratch, to scoring high on their college admissions exams. I enjoy what I do and always find teaching to be the best part of my day. I also love teaching my own two kids, so I understand what kind of classes kids will enjoy and learn from.
With the current technology and virtual platform, my students come from all over the world. And I also enjoy learning from my students, as not one student is alike and can teach me so much about their culture, interests and experience. There’s always so much to learn from each other.
