Class Experience
This class is taught in English.
-Learn more about how islands are formed -Learn about the history and art culture on Daufuskie Island -Discover new cultures -Be able to use the knowledge taught to create a fun travel brochure
Mrs. Collins is a certified science teacher with her focus area-Earth Science. She learns to teach students about how the plates move on Earth, form island, and the basics of tectonics. She is a frequent visitor to Daufuskie Island with her family and has been researching the island's history for the past 2 years intensively. She now visits to create short virtual field trips, picture albums, and sound clips of the birds on the island for her students.
Students will work on a travel brochure project for fun during the 4 week flex format.
No assessments here, just fun trivia questions.
No live meetings, and an estimated 0 - 1 hours per week outside of class.
The Gullah culture discussions will involve learning about the Civil War in South Carolina, and discovering the music/art/ and food recipes from that time area.
