Class will begin with students learning a technique to create a smooth base coat of polish. Then using household items (a toothpick and the back of a watercolor paintbrush) students will be taught a step-by-step method to create a beginner friendly reindeer nail art. Students are taught as I paint along with them and also break down the steps via a slideshow presentation. We walk through the process together and students are encouraged to use their creativity and have fun during the process, more than focusing on the outcome of the class- however, hopefully at the end of class they will have fun holiday ready nails that they love! Please note that with all the variables in an art class like this, the time of the class (30 minutes) may vary about 5-10 minutes.
Learning Goals
A technique for a smooth base coat of polish and basic nail design techniques to create reindeer themed nail art.

Parental Guidance
Please be aware of any allergies to any of the nail polish ingredients before using the polish. Also, be aware of the possibly messy nature of nail polish and plan accordingly by protecting the work surface.
Supply List
For this class students will need (most colors can be adjusted to fit what you have on hand): * 1-2 colors of polish for the fingers that don't have the reindeer painted on them (I alternated red and green in my example design.) * A light color of polish for the base coat behind the reindeer (I used white.) * A black or dark color of polish for the reindeer's eyes and his antlers * A white or light color of polish for the reindeer's eyes * A color for the reindeer's face (I used gray but brown or tan would also work well or any color you would like.) * A color for the reindeer's nose (I used red.) * 2-3 toothpicks * the back of a watercolor paintbrush or similar sized doting tool * a small square of tin foil * anything wanted to protect the work surface
