Class Experience
Students will... Expand their knowledge of the RMS Titanic. Utilize their cognitive skills to build personal perspectives. Incorporate their creative minds in presenting their personal perspectives through an art project.
No homework will be given.
Porthole Perspective Project: One sheet of white copy paper or construction paper. May use black or dark blue for a night scene. One paper plate with the center of the plate cut out making an outer ring as our porthole window frame. Please provide crayons, markers, and/or colored pencils. Also, please provide a glue bottle or glue stick to glue the plate frame to the paper when the craft is complete. A stapler will work fine as well.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
30 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
In this course, social classes will be lightly discussed. Passengers were in different parts of the ship based on their social class. When we discuss the tragic night of the Titanic sinking, it will be mentioned that unfortunately many lives were lost. Safety protocols were not as they are today and there were not enough lifeboats. Many people lost their lives due to being in the icy cold water for too long before more lifeboats were made available for rescue.
