In this fun and engaging Valentines Pre K Creative Dance class, your Pre K child will learn in an artistic and creative environment. Students will be engaged in this highly interactive class! They will learn about Valentines Day and how we can show others love. They will learn a letter and sound through song and movement. They will read the book, "In My Heart" by Jo Witek. We will learn all about feelings. We will dance and create based off of our reading. It has been proven that students at this age are more engaged in learning when combined with creative movement! Teacher expertise and credentials
Welcome! I have been teaching online for the past 4 years and LOVE it! In my free time, I love exercising and dancing in my living room with my husband and two kids! I am so excited to teach what I love to the children here on Outschool!
CLASSES I OFFER- I teach Creative Dance classes as well as other dance forms such as Ballet and Jazz. I offer Movement Conditioning classes for children who want to get stronger and more flexible for whatever dance or sport they are involved in. I offer Choreography classes where I teach and give children the tools to create moving art! I also offer Dance History classes as well as Kinesiology and Anatomy courses.
PROFESSIONAL BACKGROUND- My love for dance started at a young age. I attended Brigham Young University where I received my BA in Dance Performance. While there I received the "Outstanding Choreography" Award for the year 2013 as well as 2014. I was chosen to travel to China to perform the play, "The Nightingale" as well as teach creative dance and educational workshops to the elementary age children in China. Post graduation I was able to dance professionally for the dance company, NHD, while living abroad in Grenada, West Indies. I have loved teaching for the past 10 years and instilling a love of learning, creating and moving in children of all ages.
TEACHING PHILOSOPHY- Children's Creative Dance pioneer, Virginia Tanner, once said; "The motivating force behind my work is not only developing excellent dancers, but more importantly, developing young people who are useful, imaginative, worthwhile human beings.” I echo this as I believe dance is more than just learning dance steps. I believe in teaching excellent dance technique in an artistic and holistic way. Children become apart of the artistic process in my classes. They make discoveries, they learn about how and why their bodies can move this way or that, they develop self esteem as they see their ideas valued and their technique improving. They learn to believe in themselves and in the work they are creating. Children's imaginations are fired in combination with movement as they create moving art!
I can't wait to see you in the studio!
