Dancing the Alphabet! Movement and Brain Development Class for Preschoolers
Class experience
Get ready to dance letters, do puzzles with your bodies, and move like an animal! In this class, we will do fun movement exercises to teach children letters, numbers, vocabulary, & body awareness. Body Brain Kids teaches letters and numbers to 3.5-6 year-olds using fun movement exercises. Attending one 30-minute session a week will strengthen a child's foundation for writing and math and develop their body awareness. Each Body Brain Kids session begins with brain connectivity exercises...
Students will do physical exercises to enhance brain connectivity, explore the shape and sound of a letter to prepare for reading and writing, and they will work with numbers 1-6 through abstract movement exercises.
I developed Dancing the Alphabet following my ten-year professional dance career. After working in California preschools through the Americore Jumpstart program, I was frustrated how learning mainly occurred while children were sitting still. I went on to develop the Dancing the Alphabet curriculum through classroom experience while teaching hundreds of students a week in Brooklyn preschools. During that time, I sculpted the curriculum to become the engaging, impactful and FUN set of exercises that it is today.
We will do lots of fun movement exercises both seated and standing. Is there a place on the floor your child can use? It is helpful if the screen angle captures your child both on the floor and standing up. Prior to class, please show them how to adjust the screen if possible. No shoes please! Socks are okay and bare feet are great!
For the class, children will need some space in which they can move around, minimum 5x5 feet. Ideally they will be on a rug so they can do movement on the floor. It is best for students not to wear shoes. Bare feet are ideal, socks are okay if they are on a rug so they don't slip. Please have water nearby!
Hi! My name is Jessica and I love teaching preschoolers how to read and write using movement! I use embodied learning in my classes, which means I use movement to teach conceptual ideas such as reading and writing. The body is a super power tool...
