In this fun, hands-on, one-time class students will create their own mini lava lamp in a bottle and learn the science behind how it works. Topics covered will include density and chemical reactions. This class is structured as a group class with a hands-on activity. Students will learn through discovery and lecture. Students will be encouraged to interact with one another and the teacher. Students will learn about density and chemical reactions. I will demonstrate how density allows liquids to sit on top of one another. Then we will discuss chemical reactions. Finally, the students will participate in creating lava in a bottle. The overall objective is for students to be able to describe how to make a lava lamp in a bottle and how it works.
