In this we will "eavesdrop" on the conversation in the dancing studio to learn about different European dances that inspired masterpieces by such composers as Tchaikovsky, Offenbach, Brahms, and Strauss. Kids will listen to a story (created by a teacher) and move to the music of each dance. They will learn the names of the dances, such as can-can, csárdás (Hungarian dance), and waltz as well as some of characteristics that make each dance different. Supply List: • 2 plastic spoons • 2 white napkins • Tissue paper OR 1 additional napkin (colorful napkin preferred, but white is fine too!) • 1-2 sheets of construction or any other paper • Markers • Scissors • Scotch tape • Glue Optional Materials: • A piece of aluminum foil OR pipe cleaner • Play dough • 1 permanent marker • Small stickers, small buttons, sequins, pom-poms, etc.
For the craft portion of the class, parental guidance is required for younger students (ages 4-5) for the use of scissors and other materials. Parental guidance is recommended for older students (ages 6-8). Please note that as per Outschool policy, parents should remain off camera Thank you.
