In this one-time class students will use dance to release and then control energy in a creative movement dance class.

Class experience

Students will learn how to participate in a dance class by watching everyone dance together and then giving attention to individual students. This will teach students how to take turns and watch others move knowing that everyone will have their own moments in class as individuals. The learning goal is to help students who are shy to break out of their shell and those who are not, to control their energy. Getting out your sillies is important, so I will use intervals to increase and then decrease their energy. I have found that true focused work comes from a child who has had a chance to release bursts of energy from time to time. I will incorporate the interpretations that learners demonstrate to help guide the class.
I have been teaching dance classes to all aged children for over 25 years. Even though this is new to offer dance to children in their home, the only thing I want you to make sure of is the space your child is dancing in is safe and gives them enough room to move around.
Each student will need to have the following things to use in class:
1. Blanket
2. Some type of musical instrument like a drum, tambourine, wooden spoons, maraca, anything that keeps a beat
3. Favorite stuffy, a small one they can balance on their head or another body part
4. Toys to make an obstacle course in their dance space.

They will dance around with each of these props when prompted, but we will not begin class with them.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
Parents please be advised that this is a physical class that needs room for your child to move in an open space. The student can wear socks, ballet shoes, or bare feet. Also, have a water bottle close by for when a student might need to drink water or take a break during class.
Parents cannot join the class, as Outschool Policy requires parents to stay off camera. Parental Guidance instead is required and expected. Thank you.
