Class Experience

As a mental health professional, I know the importance of moving our body to help our bodies and brains feel good. In this one time course, we will start by sharing some good news or something about ourselves, then I will quickly explain how exercise helps our brain, bodies, and emotions. The rest of the class will be dancing to 2-4 different songs to get our bodies moving! The class will be taught in a "zumba" format where I will do dance moves that the students can follow, or students can make up their own dance moves. I will only use songs that are appropriate for kids that are on the list below. If there are any songs on the list that you would not like me to play, please let me know at least a day in advance before the class starts. I hope we can have fun dancing together!

Here is a list of songs I will use (2-4 songs will be used per class):

-Can't Stop the Feeling by Justin Timberlake (From the Trolls Movie)
-Feel Better when I'm dancing by Meghan Trainor (From the Peanuts Movie)
-We're All in This Together (From High School Musical)
-Re-Write the Stars (The Greatest Showman)
-Pressure (From Encanto)
-The Family Madrigal (From Encanto)
-When Can I See You Again (Wreck It Ralph)
-Try Everything (Zootopia)
-Roar by Katy Perry
-Firework by Katy Perry
-Classic by MKTO
-Radioactive by Imagine Dragons
-Dynamite by Tao Cruz
-Everything Will Be Okay by the Piano Guys
-Party in the USA by Miley Cyrus
-Happy Pharrel Williams
-This is Me (Greatest Showman)
-Don't Stop Believing by Journey
-What Makes you Beautiful by One Direction
-Life Changes by Thomas Rhett

I am a licensed clinical mental health counselor/elementary school social worker. I have a Master's Degree in Social Work and a Licensed Clinical Social Worker license, along with a School Social Worker License. I have been teaching children about mental health for four years, and I love helping kids move their body to feel better with their emotions! During our school's covid closure, I led weekly dance parties online for students in our school and it was so fun. I'm excited to do it again on Outschool. I have been dancing and doing zumba for more than 20 years.
