Dancers must participate in class warm-up and bring a water bottle to class.
Please check-in with kids prior to each class to see if they have any physical injuries, need to do any stretching on their own prior to class, and inform me if they have any injuries or health conditions to be aware of.
Supply List
Dancers must wear flexible and tight-fitting clothing to dance class. Bare feet, socks or ballet slippers are all acceptable (please select according to the type of floor in your home and how slippery it is!) Please encourage dancers to take 10 minutes prior to class preparing their hair and outfit in a way that makes them feel like their very best dancer! Teacher expertise and credentials
Emily's biggest passions are DANCE and the EARTH!
Dance Teacher:
Emily Liss has 28 years of dance training in ballet, jazz, contemporary, lyrical, hip hop, acrobatics, tap and musical theatre. As a child, she competed in these dance styles. As an adult, she joined dance troupes in Montreal and performed in these styles, and took weekly drop-in classes in Montreal and Vancouver. More recently Emily has studied dance & movement therapy, creative movement and ecstatic dance; free expression and personal interpretation through movement. Emily has spent 4 years living in the woods on a permaculture farm, learning skills like gardening, wild foraging and regenerative agriculture. She had the pleasure of running a forest school for 2 - 8 year olds, where we learned about a new topic each week (like harvesting tea and strawberries, the role of bees, etc.) made up games in the forest, sang songs and read books.
Emily also has a curious mind which led her to earn a B.Sc. in Physics and Philosophy, and which helps her create inquisitive programs for fun and learning!
Artist:
Emily loves to express herself through art, and is familiar with painting, drawing, playing the harp, and of course (her favourite) dance!
