In this upbeat class, dancers will learn basic hip-hop moves and put them together to create a short dance routine. No experience necessary! Drop-ins welcome! This ongoing class is open to everyone! Each class will get your child moving and learning the basic elements of hip-hop dance to upbeat and popular age appropriate music. Although this dance class is ongoing, feel free to jump in and out anytime you'd like, you do not need to attend every week to register for this beginner class. Students will learn hip-hop dance basics such as slides, bounces, isolations, groove steps, freezes and stalls. These hip hop styles will pull from street dance, break dancing, freestyle, & jazz funk. Each class includes a warm up, learning new steps, a dance choreography and a cool down stretch. Students will need an open space where they can move around without tripping hazards & have some water nearby. Come in comfortable or athletic clothing that allows for easy movement. Sneakers, barefoot or socks that do not slip on the surface are recommended. Parental Guidance
Please ensure dancers have an open workout space, proper footwear and access to water. We will stretch at the beginning of class. Please have your child stretch before attending if they will be late. As with any physical activity, injuries can occur if young learners are not properly supervised.

Hi! Welcome to Friendship Haven. We're a virtual school and Jillian is our Dance Teacher! Jillian started dance at age 4 and has continued for 24 years. Her training includes jazz, lyrical, tap, ballet, pointe, modern/contemporary & hip hop. Jillian has been teaching in Nova Scotia, Canada for 16 years. She teaches creative dance, ballet, modern, jazz, lyrical & hip hop classes to dancers from 3 to 18 years old. She teaches every level of dance! Some students are competitive but most are hobby dancers. At Friendship Haven, we all enjoy dancing for fun! Jillian has experience creating choreography and week-long camps. She enjoys mixing creative art activities with dance classes during camps! She even has experience creating production pieces for large community events as both a choreographer & dancer with all ages.
