In this 6-week class learners will learn a variety of dances from around the world. In addition to the exercise, it’s great for coordination, attention skills, and rhythm, and it’s an aerobic workout.

Class Experience

In this 6-week class learners will learn a variety of dances from around the world.  
It's great physical activity and exercise!  No experience of any kind is necessary to get started.  

Learners should wear comfortable clothing suitable for easy movement and flexible shoes which provide traction and also allow them to stand on their toes.  No jeans please.  Dancers are encouraged to have a water bottle on hand to stay hydrated during class.  A large space is not necessary for class however the area should be free from any items on the floor or furniture which may be an obstacle.  Class will begin with some warmup stretches to get the dancers ready for movement.  After the warmup the instructor will explain and teach the movements of the dance slowly breaking the dance into segments which will be easy to understand.  After that, learners will put the dance together with the music.  
In addition, dancers will learn coordination, poise, movement and rhythm with emphasis on the basic style and characteristics of each dance they learn.  Dancers will benefit from the many wonderful health benefits of Dance.

Week 1:
Learners will learn the Greek Kalamatianos, the Irish Reel, and the Scottish Military Two Step 

Week 2:
Learners will learn the Greek Ikariotikos, Mexican Dance, and the Fox Trot

Week 3:
Learners will learn the Cuban Salsa, Czechoslovakian Polka, and the Italian Tarantela

Week 4:
Learners will learn the Spanish Flamenco, the Ukranian Hopak, and Hula Dance

Week 5:
Learners will learn the Scottish Gay Gordons, the Irish Jig, and from Cuba, the Cha Cha

Week 6:
Learners will learn the Canadian Barn Dance, the Irish Stack of Barley and the Tiklos from the Phillipines

Parental Guidance
