Description
Class Experience
Are you a dancer who needs to work on the splits or core strength? If your goal is to be a fit, strong and consistent dancer, this class will help you to gain the skills and experience you will need in dance class. As a ballet instructor, I know how important core strength and flexibility is for a dancer. I also know how easy it is to accidentally injure yourself. This class will demonstrate how to safely stretch and progressively increase your flexibility. As an ongoing class, you are free...
I teach and run my own local dance studio here in NW Arkansas. I really enjoy seeing dancers who are dedicated to learning about their bodies and training themselves properly outside of the studio! As an experienced instructor, I have been trained to spot errors, correct incorrect or harmful stretching, and gently motivate student dancers to safely push themselves to reach their goals.
-Dress appropriately: leotard and tights OR leggings and sports tee (tight-fitting top). Older students may need to wear a sports bra underneath their tops. Boys: leggings or form-fitting sweatpants and fitted tee. Older boys may need to wear dance belt or more supportive underwear options. -Footwear: none, or socks. You can also wear ballet slippers if you have any and prefer them. -Barre or chair to hold onto as we stretch -Resistance band in light or medium weight (optional, but they are inexpensive and can be purchased online or at most stores that carry fitness supplies).
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
45 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 1 - 2 hours per week outside of class.
As we stretch on camera there may be some moments where we are holding our bodies in awkward angles that may look unflattering on camera. The best way to avoid "wardrobe malfunctions" is to dress like you do in dance class (leotard, tights, etc). I do prefer that you keep your webcams on, so that I can make sure you are stretching correctly and avoiding injuries. Please ensure the dance area is clear of hazards and allows the learner to move freely and safely.
